House Blend concert benefits the Homeless Prevention Center of Rutland County

Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. — RUTLAND — College of St. Joseph will host House Blend, an assembly of nearly 20 veteran a cappella singers from Vermont and New Hampshire, on Friday, May 8 in a concert to benefit the Homeless Prevention Center of Rutland County.

Formed in 2006, House Blend began with a small group of experienced singers who were eager to try something new. From those early sessions, a democratic leadership style in which any member can be a conductor or present new material to the group was born.

Dedicated to the collective exploration of many styles of mostly a cappella songs from around the world and throughout musical history, the “Blenders” infectious welcoming energy engages the audience with a passion for the music they sing about topics including joy, community, and humor.

Their diverse repertoire includes tunes from American folk traditions, soulful gospel numbers, hill songs of the Appalachia, and Jazz, as well as lush Italian and Space ballads, work songs from the Republic of Georgia, South African freedom songs, village music from Italy and France, and contemporary Latin chant.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at College of St. Joseph’s Tuttle Hall Theater. Admission is $10. For more information, call 802-775-9286.
