Castleton to hold commemorative ceremony for Veteran’s Day

Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.—CASTLETON—Castleton University will host a commemorative ceremony in honor of Veteran’s Day on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.  The ceremony will be held at the memorial flag pole in front of Woodruff Hall.
The university will commemorate Veteran’s Day with the presentation of colors at the flagpole, followed by remarks by guest speaker Castleton professor of English Burnham Holmes.
Burnham Holmes has worked as an editor, teacher, and writer. He was an editor in publishing in New York City and has taught at the School of Visual Arts, Green Mountain College and Castleton University. He has written 17 books, four plays, and hundreds of poems.
Burnham served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967. After attending Air Defense School at Fort Bliss, Texas, he was a launching platoon leader at a Nike Hercules missile site near Minneapolis, Minn., and the intelligence officer (S-2) for a Hawk missile battalion at Camp Page in Chunchon, Korea.
