Love pugs? This day is for you! Join the pug social on Saturday, at the Sherburne Library in Killington.

Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. — Green Mountain Pug Rescue (GMPR) invites everyone to the 13th Annual Pug Social on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Sherburne Memorial Library, 2998 River Road, Killington. The social will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

The event is a great opportunity to meet lots of pugs and “pug people” and have a terrific time while helping rescued pugs on their way to a better life. Meet and greet some of the GMPR alumni pugs in a fun filled day for the entire family. The social is gearing up to be bigger and better than ever with lots of canopies and tents, and a Saturday night buffet dinner at the Cortina Inn & Resort in Mendon at 7:30 p.m. Visit gmpr.org for the menu, reservation forms and cost.

Throughout the day, attendees will find pug games, a costume parade, pug races, t-shirts, drawings, raffles, silent and Chinese auctions, vendors, a pet photographer, food and refreshments, the pug café, and prizes galore.

Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 12 and under; pugs are admitted free. No pugs under the age of 16 weeks will be admitted — for their own health. Proceeds from this event go into the medical fund for the veterinary care of rescued pugs prior to their adoption. Kids, bring your pennies for the “Pennies for Pugs” jar. This year’s Pug Social is dedicated to the memory of Jleigh Howard, last year’s President, who  recently passed away after a long, heroic struggle with cancer.
