34th Annual Winter In August Celebration held Tuesday

CHANGE OF LOCATION: This Tuesday’s Winter in August event will be held in the Vermont Farmers Food Center at 251 West Street due to inclement weather.

Tuesday, Aug. 11 — RUTLAND — Come out and help celebrate the ski industry at the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce 34th Annual Winter In August Celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 11th from 5-8 p.m. This important Chamber fundraiser and show of appreciation to the ski industry will be back on Merchants Row again this year.

Winter In August will be a street party like last year and take place right outside the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce office at 50 Merchants Row in Downtown Rutland.  New this year the event will feature Local Craft Brews!

Because so many restaurants have gone all out and done creative displays and prepared such great food in the past, the Chamber acknowledges the effort with the: The Best Taste Award judged by a Chef led panel. There will also be a People’s Choice Award.

This important Chamber Fundraiser is made possible by businesses who participate, the those who attend annually and by our sponsors.

In 2014, The Chef’s Best Taste Award was presented to Killington Resort with the Chef’s Best Taste Runner Up Award going to the The American Legion Post 31.The Chef’s Best Display Award went to Killington Resort. The People’s Choice Award was presented to Killington Resort.

The RRCC anticipates 650 people will attend this year’s event including Senator Patrick Leahy, Congressman Peter Welch, Governor Peter Shumlin,  Mayor Chris Louras and many other officials, along with Killington Resort and Okemo Mountain Resort attended in 2014.

According to Tom Donahue, EVP/CEO at the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce: “Winter In August is one of the most anticipated Rutland Region Chamber events of the summer and has become a true taste of Vermont.”

The annual event recognizes the positive economic impact that the ski industry has on the Rutland region and Vermont. Area restaurants and businesses provided delicious food for attendees to enjoy while the businesses marketed their establishments.

Entry is $10 at the gate or $9 if prepurchased through the chamber website. For more information visit rutlandvermont.com/event/winter-august-celebration.
